OUR STORY

Hi, I’m Bear—owner of Durango Balloon Company and Mountain Party Rental. I began my balloon décor journey on Oʻahu, Hawaii, training with the team at Hawaii Balloon Company. After graduating from Fort Lewis College, my wife Emma (a fourth-generation Durango local) and I returned home to share our passion for creating memorable celebrations. Today, our family-run businesses bring joy to the community with vibrant balloon designs and quality party rentals.

We kicked off our journey in February 2018 at the Snowdown Light Parade, transforming a friend’s VW van with vibrant décor and floating 3FT LED helium balloons. We handed out 300 red balloons and proudly took home 2nd Place for Best Balloon Float—marking the start of our colorful adventure!

In February 2019, we returned with a show-stopping SPIDERMAN-themed float, capturing the crowd’s attention and winning 1st Place in Snowdown’s Best Balloon Category. Our creativity and dedication truly shone, making it an unforgettable moment.

After the 2019 parade, we celebrated our 1-year “Ballooniversary” with a huge balloon drop, live music from the Hillstompers, and a lively costume contest at the Main Mall in Downtown Durango.
